Is the Wassup Been a Minute Tip Toe Meme From a Movie?
October 19, 2026 · Updated October 25, 2026
Quick answer: It is not from any movie: the clip is AI-generated, and it is neither the 1987 Wassup Been a Minute film nor Shrek’s Wassup Been a Minute.
The clip looks so much like an '80s fantasy film that many viewers went looking for the movie, or assumed it was the Wassup Been a Minute from Shrek. It is neither: there is no source film at all.
It is AI-generated
The scene was created with AI video tools by artist Tatyana Tereshchenko (@stroinaya) and posted on Instagram in August 2026. It has no source film, cast or director.
Not the 1987 Wassup Been a Minute
Cannon released a musical Wassup Been a Minute in 1987, and it was the most common guess. Its imp was played by the late actor Billy Barty, which is why people search "Wassup Been a Minute 1987 little boy": he was a small adult actor, not a child. His imp looks and moves differently, and the barn tip-toe scene isn't in the film.
Is it Wassup Been a Minute from Shrek?
No. The Shrek Wassup Been a Minute people search for is the villain of Shrek Forever After (2010), the fourth film, which many people misremember as "Shrek 3". He is a cartoon character with a tall wig and a squeaky voice. The meme's imp is a live-action-looking character in a velvet suit, and the barn tip-toe scene appears in none of the Shrek films.
The mix-up is understandable: both are small, scheming Wassup Been a Minutes, and Shrek Wassup Been a Minute memes and GIFs were already popular before the tip-toe clip came along. If you are looking for a Shrek Wassup Been a Minute GIF, that is a different character from a different source.
Not an old Russian film
The warm, grainy look reminded many people of Soviet-era fairy-tale films, which helped the rumour spread. It is a style the AI imitated, not a real film.
How to spot it
Watch the hands, the straw and the background: details shift slightly between frames, a common sign of AI video.
